Music and Dance are a part of Oriya culture. They only need a platform for their proper nourishment and growth. Since ages Oriya music is based on nostalgic and ethnic tunes, “unintricate” and raw melodies, and,  above all, a strong and powerful relationship between Lord Jagannath and popular culture.

Unfortunately, over the years it has often been reduced to sub-standard singing and mediocrity. Once famous for their melodies odia songs have now become replete with double meaning, cheap and non-serious singing for which a serious and conscious effort is required from responsible quarters.
